How to Change the Color of a Folder on Mac

Changing the color of folders on your Mac can be a great way to personalize your file organization and make it easier to distinguish between different types of files. In this article, we will show you how to change the color of a folder on your Mac using Preview.

To get started, open Preview from your Applications folder or search for it in Spotlight. Once you have opened Preview, click on the 'File' menu at the top of the screen and select 'New' to create a new document.

Next, click on the 'Tools' menu and select 'Adjust Color...' from the drop-down menu. In the Adjust Color window, use the sliders to adjust the color of your folder icon to red. You can also enter a specific hex code if you have a particular shade in mind.

Once you are happy with the color, select 'File' > 'Save As...' from the menu bar and save it as a PNG file somewhere on your Mac. Now you will be able to use this colored folder icon to customize your folders.

To apply the colored folder icon to a specific folder, open the folder in Finder and right-click (or control-click) on the folder icon at the top of the window. Select 'Get Info' from the context menu, then click on the 'Color' tab and select the red color you created earlier.

That's it! Your folder should now be displaying its new red color. This is a simple and effective way to customize your folders and make them easier to identify.

Remember to always save your changes before closing Preview, as any unsaved changes will be lost when you exit the program.
